Manifest Urban Arts Festival
Starting Friday, May 15, join Columbia’s President Dr. Warrick Carter, Columbia’s student leaders, and the astounding circus punk marching band Mucca Pazza to officially kick off the Manifest party!

Gather at noon on the corner of Balbo and Wabash for giveaways, spectacle, and special surprises and the announcement of the winners of Columbia’s “Expose Yourself” online talent contest.

16th Annual Workout in the Park

Self Magazine sponsors the annual event where thousands of women hit the Grant Park Saturday, May 16th. Fitness guru Jillian Michaels of “The Biggest Loser” hosts the event. Take fitness classes such as yoga, pilates and kickboxing and get fashion tips, product samples, nutritional advice and consultations with beauty experts. Includes a one-year subscription to Self magazine. Rain or shine.

For the outdoor enthusiast, the McCormick-Tribune Ice Skating Rink is ideal. With Grant Park as a backdrop, Millennium Park in downtown Chicago is a terrific family-friendly wintertime destination. The ice rink, open from mid-November through early March, is at the city’s cultural epicenter, close to theaters, shopping and museums. Not only is a way to truly enjoy the wintertime, it’s FREE! Staying active is healthy for everyone and there are plenty of things to do around Eastgate Village for all ages.

Well, its sad to say that the warm weather won’t be back for a while and finding fun, warm, and worth-while activities always seem harder to find during these colder months.  But we’ve found them for you, so there’s absolutely no reason to sit on the couch waiting for next summer’s arrival.

Whether your nine years old or 90, staying active is healthy for everyone and there are plenty of things to do around Eastgate Village for all ages. Aside from Chicago’s popular attractions the Near South Side has some of its own great places that are a must do and see.
